Colorado West Area Square and Round Dance Council

Colorado West Area Square and Round Dance Council (CWASRDC), is the coordinating organization of square and round dance clubs across western Colorado. The Council is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, promotes square and round dancing throughout our area and serves as a bridge to the many other clubs and councils across Colorado and the nation. We are an active member of the Colorado State Square Dance Association (CSSDA) and share hosting of the State Square Dance Festival on a rotating basis with the other Colorado councils.

Peach Promenade

The Peach Promenade, first known as the “Peach Festival”, began in 1969 and has been held every year since, except for 2020, when the dance was cancelled due to Covid. For six years it was held at area hotel ballrooms and at the Barn in Lincoln Park. In 1984, the “Festival” was moved to the Mt. Garfield Middle School, which became our home until 2023, when we moved to our current home at the Grand Mesa Middle School. Through all the years, we’ve always featured national-level callers and cuers to bring the very best in square and round dancing to western Colorado.

Hall of Fame

The Colorado West Area Square & Round Dance Council “Hall of Fame” was organized to honor those dedicated square and round dancers, callers and cuers who have provided exceptional service, support and other help to promote and further the square and round dance activities of the Colorado West Area Square & Round Dance Council member clubs.

Callers and Cuers of Colorado West

Pat & Wanda McBride

A native of Steamboat, CO, Pat started square dancing in the fall of 1972 at Colorado State University with the Aggie Haylofters club. To save money, the club encouraged interested members to learn how to call just enough to do a tip at their dances. Pat took the bait and has been calling ever since. Pat enjoyed a long career as a medical technologist.

As a 50-year member of CALLERLAB and ROUNDALAB, Pat currently calls and cues for the Chatfield Country Kickers, the Greenridge Mountaineers and various other clubs and events around the state. He’s served for many years at local Council and State Association offices and is active with the History Alive Chautauqua every September.

Wanda started dancing in 1977 in Craig, CO and continued to dance through high school and college. She moved to Grand Junction in 1983, met and married Pat, and has served square dancing at the local and state level ever since. She is a Master Gardner and helps organize the Western Slope Cowboy Gathering every November. She is also an avid quilter and loves to sew.

On their farm in Grand Junction, Pat and Wanda famously raise purebred Fainting Goats along with horses and chickens.

Elaine O’Neill

Elaine O’Neill, a Colorado native who came to Montrose, CO in 2002. She started Square Dancing in 2018. She is currently part of the calling team for the Black Canyon Twirlers and the Delta HubWheelers.

Mike & Stacey Lee
