Square Dancing in Western Colorado

What is Modern Square Dancing?
Modern square dancing is a team-based social dance where eight people form a square and follow directions from a live “caller.”
Instead of memorizing a full routine, you learn individual moves. The caller mixes these moves up on the spot like a live puzzle, so you never know what is coming next.
Quick Facts:
- The Music: It uses all types of music, including pop, rock, and country.
- The Clothing: Modern clubs are casual; you can just wear jeans and sneakers.
- Global Rules: The moves are standardized in English worldwide, so you can dance in any country.
- The Structure: Dancing is broken into 15-minute sessions called “tips,” which combine rhythmic commands and singing.
